The grade scale this uses
Grades convert to points on the standard 4.0 scale, then each course's points get weighted by its credit hours before averaging:
- A / A+ — 4.0, A- — 3.7
- B+ — 3.3, B — 3.0, B- — 2.7
- C+ — 2.3, C — 2.0, C- — 1.7
- D+ — 1.3, D — 1.0, D- — 0.7
- F — 0.0
A 4-credit course pulling a B counts for more than a 1-credit course pulling an A — that's the whole reason credit-weighting matters instead of just averaging the letters directly.
Semester GPA or cumulative GPA — which is this?
Whichever you want. Enter just this term's courses for a semester GPA, or everything you've ever taken for a cumulative one. The math doesn't change, only what you put in.
This isn't weighted GPA (with AP/honors bonus points) — why?
Weighted scales vary a lot by school, and going above 4.0 gets confusing fast. This sticks to the standard scale every school recognizes, which is usually what's actually needed for basic tracking.
